Organic food… "We are what we eat.."

In recent years, the consumption of organic products has increased considerably, as now we can find different establishments  specialized in these natural products.

Organic products, also called, biological, organic or bio are those natural products obtained without the use of chemicals. For its quality and careful production, organic products could be classified as gourmet or delicatessen products although can be bought more easily off specialty stores thanks to  the increased consumption of natural products.

In Ibiza we can find several of these specialized establishments:

-"S’Hortet Verd" in Sant Jordi, is the first certified organic supermarket in Ibiza. You will find organic fruit and vegetables, an assortment of natural products, daily vegetarian menus, etc.

The best places to eat in Ibiza

There are so many great restaurants in Ibiza, to suit all tastes. The range and quality of dining here on the island is dazzling. Ibiza really does have it all. We recommend getting a taste of the real Ibiza at one of the many locally-run and traditional restaurants. With beautifully cooked meats and locally-caught sea food at very reasonable prices. Here at Prestige Properties we offer you a guide to some of our favourite Ibiza eateries:

Can Berri Vell (San Agustin): Can Berri Vell is itself a typical Ibicencan house now turned into a 5 star restaurant. You’ll be able to taste delicious gourmet plates: from meat and seafood to rice and elaborated pasta.

Can Domingo (San Jose): Can Domingo is a fine Italian restaurant located in the entrance of San Jose town. You’ll be able to taste delicious Italian and Mediterranean cuisine here.

El Carmen (Cala d’Hort): This restaurant offers the best paella on the island as well as many other typical Ibicencan dishes. Apart from delighting amazing and delicious dishes, El Carmen offers the best views to the magical rock island of Es Vedra.

La Oliva Ibiza (Ibiza town): La Oliva Ibiza has been considered one of the most treasured and valued restaurants in the whole of Ibiza.

Situated in a main square surrounded by the legendary walls of Dalt Vila, tourists and regulars can enjoy an extensive menu of Provencal and Mediterranean cuisine on the pavement terrace including braised and roast meats and fish.

Sa Capella (San Antonio): With fascinating surroundings and the added ingredient of an old converted church, there is simply no place more stylish and unique to dine than Sa Capella Ibiza. With modern yet very traditional dishes on offer, you get to choose from divine fish and various mouth-watering meats cooked right in front of you just to wet your appetite that little bit more. All of this gets served with some of the very best Hierbas on the White Isle.

Sa Punta (Talamanca): Sa Punta Ibiza is a delight to visit. A celebrity favourite, think five star service and attention to the smallest detail. With lots of fresh seafood dishes, free-range meat and where possible, locally sourced fresh produce. Sa Punta Fine Dining offers Mediterranean cuisine with different Djs every night, giving each evening a distinct flavour..

Villa Mercedes (San Antonio): Originally built as an Ibicencan villa over a century ago back in 1901, Villa Mercedes has since transformed into one of the White Isle’s most deluxe and in-demand restaurants around back in 1999 and remains as elegant as ever to this very day. Surrounded by a sensational garden providing guests with a breath-taking view of the yachts and harbour of San Antonio.

Villa Mercedes offers a Mediterranean-Fusion menu like no other including a Chef’s Tasting Menu available every week.

KM5 (Ibiza – San Jose): KM5 is the restaurant, bar and garden more attractive in  Ibiza. Glamorous, cosmopolitan and relaxed atmosphere, harmoniously blends Eastern influences and avant-garde, both in music and decoration, as well as its exquisite gastronomic offer. Grilled meats wing are the main protagonists of the menu as well as duck confit, octopus or fresh fish.

Ses Escoles: A new and original restaurant towards the village of Sant Joan de Labritja. It is located next to the oil mill Miquel Guasch, where they produce an excellent extra virgin olive oil of Ibiza.

Ses Escoles, is installed in an old country house, which has been tastefully decorated in a Provencal and rustic style and many details about the oil. It’s cozy and quiet covered terrace is the perfect place to taste their carefully Mediterranean and Ibizan cuisine with personal touches of the chef!!

Post-it:  At the entrance of the house, have opened a cozy shop of delicatessen products of Ibiza, like their own extra virgin olive oil.

Ses Boques: This restaurant is not very well-known to tourists, which means the character and atmosphere of the locals stays rather authentic. You can venture here, for example, to partake of a delicious fish dish whilst overlooking the beautiful sea. The salt-crusted sea perch is certainly recommended! The service is good, and the food is exquisite; in short, it is definitely recommended that you give the restaurant a try.

Beach House: Located in the biggest and busiest beach, Playa den Bossa, BEACHOUSE Ibiza is the latest project by successful Ibiza restaurateurs Jonathan Thorogood and Olivia Fleury, from El Chiringuito.

It offers Italian cuisine from 11am until 1am daily – to your luxe daybed, chic sofa or sophisticated wooden table on the terrace. Head chef Sebastiano Altimari’s menu offers an array of cuisine to suit all tastebuds – from fresh summer pasta and risotto, freshly caught seafood and healthy, creative salads to an impressive pizza menu and delectable desserts. Fresh juices, bespoke cocktails and an expertly selected wine list are all part of the BEACHOUSE Ibiza experience.

Amante: Spanish mediterranean restaurant Amante is Ibiza’s most beautiful rural restaurant. Set in a stunning cove, Amante is perfect for anyone looking to relax in a luxurious country setting. Mediterranean cuisine, healthy and stylish based on the freshest local produce.

Don’t leave Ibiza without… trying "Café Caleta"

There are some restaurants and beach bars in Ibiza –not many- where meals always end in the same way: drinking a lovely "café caleta". As it aids digestion and it’s aromatic, it’s the best cure against drowsiness after meals. Take note of where you can find it and don’t forget to order it!

There aren’t many restaurants which offer it on their menu. Nevertheless, be careful because this coffee is not harmless. It’s slowly brewed in an earthenware casserole and flavoured with orange and lemon rinds, cinnamon, coffee beans and brandy. A lot of it! Don’t forget it and don’t be in too much of a hurry to drive again.

Where can you try café caleta?

          Es Boldado

It has everything you need in order for you to enjoy an unforgettable meal. They serve fantastic rices on a terrace with breathtaking views over Es Vedrá where you can also enjoy a Café Caleta from the menu. It has become extremely well known amongst the locals, a classic.

          El Bigotes
This rustic Beach bar it’s famous for its "bullit de peix" (boiled fish), but also because it is one of the places in Ibiza where fresh café caleta are prepared every day. If you don’t feel like eating there, you can always turn up at around 4pm and order this coffeee. It’s the best moment to enjoy their terrace!

          Sa Caleta

We have left this one until last but it should be the first on the list because this beach bar from the South of the island assures that their "café caleta" is the original one. The real "Café Caleta". As well as fabulous rice dishes, Sa Caleta has a shaded garden which is very pleasant and the lovely breeze from Sa Caleta Beach or El Rincón del Marino, only a few metres away.

                  Posidonia Oceanica

From time to time you will see masses of seaweed washed up on the beaches of Ibiza. It is in actual fact that it is not seaweed but a plant which has adapted to living under the ocean called Posidonia Oceanica.

The Posidonia oceanica (commonly known as Neptune Grass or Mediterranean tapeweed) forms large underwater meadows that are an important part of the ecosystem. The fruit is free floating and known in Italy as "the olive of the sea" (l’oliva di mare). Balls of fibrous material from its foliage, known as egagropili, wash up to nearby shorelines.

In May 2006, a team of international scientists discovered a Posidonia oceanica plant between the islands of Formentera and Ibiza measuring 8 km long and estimated to be more than 100,000 years old.

It grows horizontally and can cover large areas of the seabed, and it also grows vertically leading to the formation of barrier reefs, which can reach 2m in height. Posidonia oceanica stabilises the seabed and protects the coastline from storms.

Each year, the first autumn storms deposit large quantities of its dead leaves on the coast, creating yet another natural barrier by preventing beach erosion and protecting the sand dune systems.

                    The Ibiza Clubbing Season 2016

                    [three_fourth_last]

As we enter the Spring season here on the island, with the beautiful wild flowers and Almond blossom in full Bloom, many of Ibiza’s famous Clubs will be starting to look at their summer schedules and think about the dates for their Opening parties in May and June. With over 7 super clubs on the island, the Opening Party months are very busy in Ibiza

As with tradition on the island, the first club to open its doors for the summer season, is always the family owned and beautiful Es Paradis, the famous and classically designed pyramid shaped glass roofed club, will kick off its Ibiza 2016 summer season on Saturday May 21st 2016. The Es Paradis Opening party, signals the official opening of the clubbing season here in Ibiza and it starts to remind us to get ready for the busy summer months ahead.

One of the biggest Ibiza Opening parties, is the famous Space Opening party, which takes place in Playa Den Bossa every year, with thousands of people traveling from Europe and America to visit the club for some of the finest DJ’s in the world. This summer in Ibiza, the Space Opening Party will be held on, Sunday, May 29th and it is a 24 hour party affair, so make sure to be well prepared for the festivities.

Ushuaia will also have its Opening party that weekend. Just across from Space, the Ushuaïa Ibiza Beach Hotel is a five star luxury beach hotel with a large outdoor area for dancing, complete with three fine dining restaurants, a full-service cocktail bar, two outdoor pools and even a spa. Because it’s technically a hotel and not a club, Ushuaia is a rare place revellers can (legally) dance during daylight hours. The dance floor is ordinarily open from morning to midnight.

The underground DC10 which is oponed the day after the Space Opening party is already etched firmly into the history books of dance music culture, the small farmhouse at the end of the airport runway in Ibiza has become one of the best known clubbing destinations on the planet, principally due to the hedonistic and no holds barred afterhour sessions of Monday daytime party Circo Loco.

Pacha will officially open for the summer season with the David Guetta FMIF party at the much loved Ibicenco club in Ibiza town. The 3000-capacity venue has five different rooms: the large Main Room for house and techno, the Funky Room for more disco flavours, the Roof Terrace for lounge and chillout, and downstairs features Sweet Pacha for retro pop and the Global Room—the first main room back when Pacha opened in 1973

On May 14th and in a change to recent years, Amnesia will hold its Opening party. Amnesia features two large rooms, one with an air-conditioned upstairs VIP lounge and a dance floor lined by infamous cooling "ice cannons," as well as an enclosed greenhouse terrace "sunrise dance floor" that becomes flooded with rays as the sun rises in the morning.

And, on the 27th of May we will have the opening party of Privilege, impossible to miss, the world’s largest club, according to the Guinness Book of World Records. With 25 metre-high ceilings and an indoor pool in the main room, plus a stage with erotic dancers, it’s quite literally a spectacle of a nightclub. Privilege also features a multi-level chillout area with garden, a dome with views of the island, the Coco Loco room and a Mediterranean restaurant.

                    Let’s go!
