Discover Ibiza´s fantastic natural environment while working out your body or learning and practising a new, fun activity. It´s time for some fun in the sun!

Get some workout on the beach
    The Workout Club Ibiza
offers a great way to get started for the day. They offer personal training sessions of Yoga, Pilates and aerobic training on the beach either for yourself or in small groups. Their workout is based on the Russian kettlebell system and will help you to quickly get rid of unwanted body fat, give you strength and energy as well as lift your mood and motivation. Surfing without waves

Paddle Surf or Stand up surf is the new way to discover the Mediterranean sea these days. This sustainable activity will give you a completely new perspective of the Ibiza coastline. Paddle surf has become quite popular in the Mediterranean in recent years, as well as kite-surfing. But while you can practise kite-surf only on a windy day, paddle surf or SUP as the locals call it here, can be practised even during the hottest summer months, when the Mediterranean sea is usually as flat as a plate. It´s fantastic to work out your body, get a healthy tan, and at the same time you go on a trip around the little idyllic coves and bays this island has to offer.  SUP boatibiza provide group excursions such as the "sunset surf" and individual training. Prices start at 45 €.

    Diving in the Mediterranean sea
One of the best ways to get a closer look at the beauty of the Ibicencan underwater fauna and flore is by diving. Ibiza has some great natural underwater treasures, such as the Posidonia prairies, which are protected and were declared natural heritage in 1999. There are also differenty types of dolphins living around the island, which can be seen at any time of the year, especially in the southwestern part of Ibiza, around Es Vedra island. But also starfish, octopuses and flying fish are quite common around the island as well as different types of indigenous fish, which only live in the seas around Ibiza, such as the Rotja or the bigger Sirvia. There are various diving centres all along the Ibizan coast, such as Orca Sub Diving in Cala Taridaor Punta Dive in Cala Llonga and Port des Torrent.

    Surfing the waves
And if you are really longing for some serious waves,  Bam Bu Ku Ibiza located righton the beachfront in San Antonio Bay has the remedy. Their system of artificial waves called Flowrider allows you to surf like a Hawaïan native within an hour or so. The activity is a mix of surfing, skateboarding and wakeboarding with your exhaustion point being the only limit. Surf House Ibiza provides a personal instructor, who is monitoring at all times as well as all equipment. Children must be taller than 1,30 m to be able to practise this activity. Prices start at 20 € / hour for kids and 30 € / hour for adults. However, they also offer group and full day prices.

      The Island of Bes

Let’s get to know a little bit more about our Ibicencan ancient culture!

Ibiza, one of the most beautiful and mystical islands in the mediterranean sea, has throughout the centuries attracted an interesting mix of people and civilisations. Ibiza has always opened her arms to the explorer and provided replenishment and rest for the weary traveller. It was in 680BC that the Phoenicians first discovered Ibiza, an island that lay in the currents of seafaring sailors and traders. These early sailors would stop in Ibiza to gather food and find fresh water to drink. The Phoenicians were well known as traders, and set up a trading post at Sa Calleta before moving to Dalt Villa, which is where Ibiza town now resides.

The Phoenicians were related to the Carthaginians and it was to their Gods and others that they worshiped. The Phoenicians adopted the god Bes from their neighbours the Egyptians, and exported his cult around the Mediterranean as they traded peacefully with different civilisations. They were famed for trading in the colour purple – a colour related to Royalty- and Ibiza shellfish provided the dye for them to obtain it.

The Phoenician term for the cult of Bes was Ibosim, which throughout the centuries gradually became I-bez-a……..the "Island of Bes".

As Bes was considered a good spirit, he became associated with sexual pleasure, dancing and good times. He was worshipped for fertility and healing purposes along with his wife Beset, who watched over women during childbirth. Along with the Goddess Tanit, the two ancient Gods are closely connected to Ibiza.

There are many references and places to Bes and Tanit on the island and here at Prestige Properties, we recommend you to discover these hidden secrets.

Don’t leave Ibiza without… trying "Café Caleta"

There are some restaurants and beach bars in Ibiza –not many- where meals always end in the same way: drinking a lovely "café caleta". As it aids digestion and it’s aromatic, it’s the best cure against drowsiness after meals. Take note of where you can find it and don’t forget to order it!

There aren’t many restaurants which offer it on their menu. Nevertheless, be careful because this coffee is not harmless. It’s slowly brewed in an earthenware casserole and flavoured with orange and lemon rinds, cinnamon, coffee beans and brandy. A lot of it! Don’t forget it and don’t be in too much of a hurry to drive again.

Where can you try café caleta?

              Es Boldado

It has everything you need in order for you to enjoy an unforgettable meal. They serve fantastic rices on a terrace with breathtaking views over Es Vedrá where you can also enjoy a Café Caleta from the menu. It has become extremely well known amongst the locals, a classic.

              El Bigotes
This rustic Beach bar it’s famous for its "bullit de peix" (boiled fish), but also because it is one of the places in Ibiza where fresh café caleta are prepared every day. If you don’t feel like eating there, you can always turn up at around 4pm and order this coffeee. It’s the best moment to enjoy their terrace!

              Sa Caleta

We have left this one until last but it should be the first on the list because this beach bar from the South of the island assures that their "café caleta" is the original one. The real "Café Caleta". As well as fabulous rice dishes, Sa Caleta has a shaded garden which is very pleasant and the lovely breeze from Sa Caleta Beach or El Rincón del Marino, only a few metres away.
